This technical note presents a portrait of the distribution of campaign resources to the candidacies of black and white women and black and white men in the 2020 and 2016 municipal elections with the aim of understanding whether or not the resources were proportionally distributed between these groups. What was the amount of these resources and the average campaign revenue for black candidates? Did the proportionality in the distribution of resources allocated to black candidates increase in 2020 compared to 2016? How was proportionality in the distribution of resources for black candidates in Brazilian municipalities? And by political parties? With the answers to these questions, we intend to contribute to the construction of a broader portrait of how campaign resources are distributed to candidates in terms of race and gender. From this study, it will be possible to develop even more precise diagnoses about racial inequalities in the Brazilian political-electoral system.
