Race and Public Safety

Monitors racial bias in the Judiciary through quantitative and qualitative research. On the quantitative front, we work with a database of judicial decisions that allow us to understand: 1) Crimes of racism, depreciation, and racial discrimination; 2) Cases of offenses by victims of police violence; and 3) Criminal proceedings in state and federal courts regarding racial profiling in police searches. To deepen the study of the judicial modus operandi that legitimizes racial violence, we will conduct in-depth studies of criminal cases related to police brutality in São Paulo and Salvador.
